Where We Eat – Electric Bakery in Bude

Whilst we're on the subject of the South West, here's one place that's well worth a drive...perhaps not all the way from Ladywell, but if you find yourself in Cornwall this summer then it's absolutely worth a detour!

When I told Henry I was heading to the North Cornwall coast for a few days, he made it very clear that a visit to Electric Bakery in Bude was mandatory. As it turns out, he was absolutely right!

We swung by mid-morning having already had breakfast, which was a rookie error of the highest order, and still somehow managed to put away a grilled cheese sandwich and a pastel de nata before pocketing a sausage roll and a pain suisse for later in the day!

Everything was exceptional.

When pastry is this good it's very difficult not to get carried away, and judging by the queue of people doing exactly the same thing, we weren't alone!

If you're heading down that way over the summer then it's firmly recommended.

Whilst you're there, also make time for Gorse, just outside Newquay. Their pastries are equally excellent and they also sell their famous toasted bread bread...something that really has to be experienced to be understood!
