Where We Eat: Veraison in Camberwell

Ladywell is definitely the best neighbourhood in SE London… but there are a few close contenders, and Camberwell is right up there!
We’ve written before about The Kerfield Arms – proper pub vibes with restaurant-level cooking. We’ve name-checked Theo’s more than once – still serving some of the best pizza around and pouring Kernel Table Beer by the jug (yes please). And Stormbird remains one of the best beer pubs in the area, full stop. Not bad at all for one small high street!
Adding to the list of Camberwell gems is Veraison Wines, one of our favourite local spots. We found ourselves there a few weeks back on a rainy Monday evening, fresh from a work meeting/boozy lunch at the Kerfield Arms (yet again). We settled in with a bottle of 2016 Grumello from Lombardy and an epic charcuterie plate… and everything just hit the spot. Great wine, great snacks, and that easy, relaxed feel that makes you want to stay for hours!
As you'd expect, the bottle selection is excellent…and even better, you can drink any bottle at takeaway price on Mondays, which is exactly what we did. They also run regular wine tastings, and if you need another reason to visit, they serve rotisserie chicken on Sundays.
Basically… it might be the perfect wine bar. Definitely worth a detour if you find yourself in SE London’s second best neighbourhood!
