Where We Eat - Blacklock

Last week we finally got around to our (very) belated Christmas party!
We hit the karting track in Canary Wharf for some fiercely competitive laps, with a few bruised bodies (and egos) courtesy of some enthusiastic bumper-car tactics from one individual who will remain unnamed…
Once the winner had received his medal (congrats to Robert, our newest chef) and the podium celebrations were complete, we headed off for a few beers followed by a very good dinner at Blacklock, just around the corner!
Blacklock have been around for just over ten years now, and their original Soho restaurant has long been a go-to for big group get-togethers and catch-ups in town. The chop platters are excellent – that slice of bread underneath, soaking up all the juices, is a real highlight – and they also offer a range of larger cuts that are ideal for sharing and make a properly impressive centrepiece for the table
We visited on a Monday, when they offer all the big cuts at butcher price, which means exceptional value on things like porterhouse and prime rib…both of which we very much enjoyed!
They also offer £10 corkage all day, every day, which we took full advantage of by dropping off a large box of wine ahead of our visit. That said, we couldn’t resist a couple of bottles from their cellar reserve list, including an excellent Priorat by Álvaro Palacios, a long-standing favourite among a few of us, alongside some other real gems!
We’re big fans of Blacklock and everything they do. They also handled a slightly raucous group of hospitality petrol heads with absolute grace…not an easy task!
Huge thanks to the team, and we’ll definitely be back!
