Where We Eat: Malaysian Deli in Crofton Park

January is always a tricky time for restaurants. After the festive excess, people are cutting back, budgets are tighter, and even regular diners are thinking twice…so this month, we’re shining a light on a couple of our favourite spots that offer great value

First up is a local spot, Malaysian Deli in Crofton Park. We made our first visit last year after hearing rave reviews from friends and neighbours, and the food did not disappoint!

All the classics are spot on… from the Satay skewers, through the creamy coconut richness of the Percik, to the deep spice of the Beef rendang.

But the star of the show? The Roti chanai. Flaky, rich, golden and perfect. Honestly, I could have eaten them forever…and just writing this has me craving them all over again…so good!

It’s absolutely worth a trip. But if you opt for takeaway, please consider collecting rather than using Deliveroo…that 30% commission is a massive hit for small restaurants, and every little helps, especially in January!

Meantime if you’re in central London and need something warming, Kung Foo Noodle on Shaftesbury Avenue is a go-to. Big bowls of hand-pulled noodles in spicy beef soup are excellent value, but the pork wontons in chilli oil are the dish we’d detour for…some of the best we’ve had anywhere!

Thanks again for all your support in 2025, and here’s to more good meals in 2026!
