Where We Eat: Smoking Goat, Shoreditch

It’s officially lurgy season! The shift in weather always seems to bring the sniffles, and while Lemsip and paracetamol have their place, nothing hits quite like a seriously spicy bowl of soup. Ideally a Tom Yum, eaten somewhere warm and loud and full of chilli!
A couple of weeks back we headed to Smoking Goat in Shoreditch…which is always challenging because you have to walk straight past the entrance of Brat to get there from the station, and that doorway just calls to me! But since even a midweek lunch at Brat can set you back an eye-watering amount, we kept walking!
Smoking Goat pulls no punches. The food is fiery and authentic. The fish sauce chicken wings are a classic, especially as you can wash them down with a pint of Five Points…one of my favourite London breweries. The sound system is top notch, as is the soundtrack and the whole atmosphere is brilliant as well as being remarkably affordable. Top marks all round!
In even better news for lovers of Thai food…Som Saa in Spitalfields has reopened this week after the devastating fire earlier this year. It’s the nightmare every restaurant owner fears, and we couldn’t be happier to see Andy and the team back doing what they do best. It’s the best Thai restaurant in London, no question. So if you haven’t been…go!
