Where We Eat – US Edition - Da People’s Choice in Moriarty, NM

In praise of a very small and very local spot we stumbled across a couple of weeks ago after a long, very hot day riding bikes through New Mexico…

Da People’s Choice is a tiny barbecue spot in Moriarty, just outside Albuquerque, and exactly the sort of place we’ve found ourselves drawn to over the past few weeks.

We stopped in for ribs, which were excellent, but the real standout was the chicken wings. Honestly, the best I’ve ever had!!

They came coated in a combination of lemon pepper and Buffalo sauce which sounded slightly chaotic on paper but turned out to be absolutely unbelievable!

Whilst we were eating we chatted with the owner, who happily told us about himself and the family who run the place…all whilst taking orders, cooking food and greeting a steady stream of regulars coming through the door.

Exactly the sort of owner-operated spot we’ve found ourselves really appreciating over the course of this trip.

Simple, welcoming and full of personality…the kind of place that reminds you hospitality doesn’t need to be complicated to be memorable!
