Setting The Table For Autumn

ree

Autumn is a funny old time in the restaurant business...

It’s a bit like setting the tables before service…quiet, calm, and full of promise. You know the hard work is coming, but there’s a moment to breathe, prepare, and get the details right.

It’s the season of practical tasks: ordering extra glassware and crockery, fine-tuning the reservation system, tweaking the wine list for the cooler months, and adjusting the wines by the glass to pair better with the richer, more autumnal dishes.

It’s also often the point when reality bites. The long summer takes its toll, the bank balance is at its lowest ebb, and there’s an anxious hope that the tide will turn with the change in season.

The 12 weeks leading up to you-know-what are the most important of the year for restaurants, and in the current climate, it feels wise to be a little cautious about what lies ahead.

But despite the nerves, there’s a lot to be excited about. Some of our favourite dishes are making a comeback, and the October menu is an absolute classic.

On the wine front, we finally get to open up some serious reds from the cellar…there’s a knockout Italian Cabernet Sauvignon that I’m especially excited about and will be perfect for the heartier menus of the next few months!

We’ve opened bookings right through to 20th December, so if you’re planning your festive catch-ups or thinking ahead to that long-overdue dinner with friends, now’s a great time to get your table booked.

Bring on the autumn vibes. Brown food, fireside reds, and comforting dinners with the people you love…what could be better?
