Where We Eat: The French House

The three of us have always loved eating out together. Even before Wilson’s was a reality, we’d spend hours in restaurants we admired - chatting about what they did well, what we’d love to emulate, and (of course) the little things that sometimes frustrated us. Those conversations were part of the foundation of Wilson’s
Since opening back in March, it’s a tradition we’ve tried hard to maintain. Every few months, we take time for a proper lunch as friends and business partners. We reflect on how far we’ve come, pass judgment on dishes (in the best possible way), and seek inspiration for the road ahead. It’s a chance to enjoy the journey we’re on, reconnect with why we started, and - most importantly - enjoy eating in restaurants not as observers, but as restaurant owners ourselves!
This week, after (almost) nine months of Wilson’s we took time for a lunch at The French House in Soho—an iconic restaurant tucked upstairs from one of the areas most historic bars. It’s been on all of our lists for a while, and it didn’t disappoint.
The dining room was intimate, the menu was short but classic, and the Burgundy was perfect. The highlight? Grilled tongue with horseradish remoulade and beetroot. Will it make its way onto Wilson’s menu? Probably not - but keep an eye out for a confit duck leg coming soon!
