Where We Eat: Bouchon Racine

Considering it’s probably our favourite restaurant in London, it seems remiss that we’ve gone more than a year without mentioning Bouchon Racine here...
It’s not that we haven’t eaten there… it’s just that we never remember to take any photos because we’re too busy chatting about the food and enjoying the wine...exactly the way it should be!
So, to correct this, a few weeks back week Henry and his Dad enjoyed their first game of the season at Racine, and it was everything they hoped it would be. The cooking was classic and full of flavour, the wine was flowing (top end Burgundy…obviously) and the room was full of people clearly having a brilliant time.
The star of the show was the roast grouse with bread sauce & game chips…but honestly, every dish was spot on and Henry described the whole meal as being ‘truly wonderful’!
There really is something special about Racine. It’s old-school in the best possible way, and the whole place runs like clockwork thanks to Henry Harris and Dave Strauss, who between them have decades of experience at the sharp end of London hospitality.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a better spot for a proper long lunch or a special dinner. It’s also one of those rare places where chefs go to eat on their days off – always a good sign
